The m/s Moby Dick makes daily departures April to October from Keflavik. Evening trips taking advantage of the long daylight hours arc available from June 15 through July. The on-board guides include marine biologists providing commentary. Trips last about 3 hours. Sightings include Humpbacks, Orca, Minke and White-beaked dolphins with occasional Sei, Fin and Blue whales. Sightings since 1994 have averaged 90-97%.

The Husavik Whale Centre is a museum located at Husavik harbour. A major feature is the collection of 9 whale skeletons. There are exhibits and films about the biology of whales, Iceland’s whaling history and whale watching. There is a souvenir shop, lecture room/library and children’s room. The Centre is working on photo ID research on the whales of Skjalfandi Bay in co-operation with North sailing and the Icelandic Marine Research institute. Volunteers join the sailings and arc available to give information to passengers.

Professionally guided trips of around 3 hours are offered on two whale watching boats. Several different species can he encountered including white-beaked dolphin, Orca, Minke, Humpbacks and occasionally blue whales. Warm and waterproof clothing is provided free of charge. Elding claim an excellent sightings record of 98% since 2000.
